Your initial consultation with Dr Navani

When you come to see The Lung Consultant your first appointment will be a consultation. Neal will take a full medical history and you should bring a list of any medication you are taking, and tell him about any other illnesses and symptoms, as well as those connected with your chest and your breathing. Your consultation also involve:

  • A physical examination: Dr Navani will use a stethoscope to listen to your chest
  • Lung function tests such as spirometry and peak flow measurements
  • Taking blood and/or urine samples to send off for analysis such as allergy testing

Diagnostic tests in respiratory medicine

Follow up tests may then be necessary, including:

  • A chest X-ray
  • A chest CT scan
  • A functional PET CT scan
  • Flexible bronchoscopy
  • An endobronchial ultrasound
  • Detailed allergy testing
  • Sputum analysis

Discussing your test results

Once all your test results are in and have been analysed, Dr Navani will arrange another consultation to discuss your results and to work with you to devise a treatment plan.
