Early lung cancer detection

Early lung cancer detection

A large study published at the end of 2011 showed that patients who were diagnosed with lung cancer following a screening investigation had a higher rate of survival.

Lung cancer screening is not currently available on the NHS but private lung cancer screening can be useful for people judged to be at ‘high-risk’ who don’t show any symptoms.

Lung cancers detected through screening tend to be at an earlier stage than those that cause obvious symptoms and so can be treated more effectively.
